Canadian Energy and Global Market Access (CEGMA)
Topic: Northern Gateway Pipeline
As we progress through the ever changing world the issue of energy is a very important topic to analyze. It is apparent that the issue of fossil fuels, as a
non-renewable energy source, has become a frequently debated issue. In the Canadian Energy and Global Market Access committee we will be looking at the
future of energy production and consumption in both Canada and on a global level, especially pertaining to the continuous use of fossil fuels. We will be discussing in depth many of the major projects that are either currently in Canada or are prospective projects. Major topics that we will be focused on are economic advantages and disadvantages, environmental impacts, trade relations, and the future for energy development. By taking into account different opinions we hope to come to a comprehensive conclusion about the future of Energy in Canada.
CEGMA is an intermediate committee — delegates with some MUN experience are preferred, though anyone with ability and interest may be chosen for this committee.

Staff
Cohen Isberg | Director
Cohen Isberg is from a small rural community called Skidegate on Haida Gwaii. As a First Nations of BC he knows much of the conflicts that are focused around the extraction and transportation of fossil fuels. His interest in mediation stems from his uncle who works as a mediator and consultant. During the summer, if Cohen is not working as an interpreter at a cultural heritage site and museum he will either be hunting, fishing or hanging out with friends. Cohen is very interested in Social Studies and Model UN so he is very excited to be apart of Shawmun 2014.
Connor MacDonald | Chair
Connor has lived in Fredericton, New Brunswick most of his life, and is now at Pearson College representing his home province. Back home, he enjoyed participating in Model United Nations, especially the John Peters Humphrey MUN, which included students from all Atlantic Canada and the state of Maine.
In his spare time, Connor likes reading about international politics, playing the violin and singing. As well, he likes Kayaking and Canoeing on Pedder Bay, where Pearson College is located. He also likes talking about international issues with friends, and is thrilled to be a part of ShawMUN 2014.
