United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
TOPIC: Post-2015 Millennium Development Goals
The United Nations Development Programme is the largest UN agency, with a global budget of $3 Billion and a presence in more than 30 nations. The topic of discussion will be the millennium development goals, a set of 8 goals to be reached by 2015 with the intent of eradicating poverty. These goals, however, will likely not be met by 2015 and the possible renewal of these goals or the drafting of new goals is a topic of great importance in contemporary international development. Join this committee to gain a new understanding of the matters and discussions taking place in the United Nations today.
The United Nations Development Program is an intermediate committee — delegates with some MUN experience are preferred, though anyone with ability and interest may be chosen for this committee.

Sameer Rodriguez | Director
Sameer is a grade 12 student at Brentwood College. Sameer's MUN experience involves ShawMUN 2013, ConnectMUN, and BCMUN. Sameer also has much UN related experience, as his father is a permanent member of the United Nations and is currently the head of the United Nations Development Programme in Afghanistan. As such, he has lived in many countries and travelled extensively. By living this lifestyle, Sameer has developed a keen interest in the United Nations. He has also gained a wide knowledge base regarding human rights and international development through first-hand experience managing community service projects. ShawMUN 2014 is Sameer’s second staffing experience, and first as Director, the first being Assistant-Director at BCMUN, and he is sure it will be a great one.
Kristina Lau | Chair
Kristina is a grade 11 student at Shawnigan Lake School. When not busy coxing a crew of teenage boys or preparing for MUN conferences, Kristina enjoys eating Shawnigan meals, convincing others that gluten-free bread does not taste like cardboard, and pretending that she understands hockey. Kristina had attended CAIMUN, BCMUN, VMUN, and several other conferences. Though SHAWMUN will be her first chairing experience, she looks forward to moderating sophisticated debates in the United Nations Development Programme, and she hopes all delegates will contribute to high level debates.
