Isaac Tate - Co-Secretary General
Born in Vancouver, Isaac Tate is a grade 12 student currently studying at Shawnigan Lake School. Not only is he looking forward to seeing this prestigious conference come together, but also more importantly he is looking forward to seeing delegates from all around BC attending. He has been part of MUN conferences across North America from RHSMUN in San Francisco to VMUN in Vancouver. He also holds multiple awards in debate including outstanding speaker and best team. When Isaac isn’t spending his time at school, he can be found sailing and playing tennis. Once again, he is looking forward to seeing all of your bright faces at the conference.
Isobel Potter - Co-Secretary General
Isobel Potter is in her final year at Shawnigan. This is her third ShawMUN and she is ecstatic to assume the role of Co-Secretary General. Isobel has been to Model UN conferences all over North America, from San Francisco to Montreal. She has also staffed committees at various conferences and was privileged to be on the Secretariat of BCMUN 2014. Next year, Isobel plans to study International Relations and Politics at university. Outside of MUN, Isobel reads books, keeps up with current events, and frantically tries to finish university applications!
Ryan Gan - Co-Director General
Ryan is a grade 12 student at Shawnigan Lake School, and is honoured to be your Director General for ShawMUN 2014. Last year, Ryan served as committee director and enjoyed connecting with many delegates. This year, as Director General, he is thrilled to welcome you back for another memorable conference and encourages you to invite new delegates who have not attended ShawMUN before. Ryan has attended VMUN, VicMUN, SSUNS, and RHSMUN prior to ShawMUN 2014. He enjoys thoughtful and creative solutions on solving global issues. ShawMUN2014 will be Ryan's final year with ShawMUN. He is looking forward to sharing an incredible experience with delegates this coming April.
Yonden Sherpa - Co-Director General
Yonden is a grade 12 student at Shawnigan Lake School. While this his second year as a "MUNer", he is passionate about debating on global issues as well as meeting new people. Aside from MUN, Yonden leads a fairly simple life. He is the captain of both Cross Country and Soccer team. Yonden will be taking Business and playing Varsity soccer next fall in University. In addition, Yonden has gain experience from attending many Conferences especially RHSMUN in San Francisco, California and VMUN in Vancouver, BC. Although this is Yonden's second time staffing, he promises a stimulating and intellectual debate and looks forward to meeting all Delegates
Julianne de Gara - USG of Committees
Julianne de Gara is a grade 11 student at Shawnigan Lake School. When not spending seven and a half hours a week preparing for debate tournaments and MUN conferences, Julianne enjoys referring to herself in the third person, writing rhetorical analysis essays, and pretending to study. Julianne has attended CAIMUN, VMUN, BCMUN, RHSMUN and several other conferences, with ShawMUN 2014 being her first staffing experience. She looks forward to the high level of debate exemplified in the Security Council and hopes that all delegates put forward the time and effort to make ShawMUN a great experience for everyone involved!
Cecil Ash - USG of Marketing and Staff
From Cranbrook, British Columbia, Cecil is your USG of Committees and Staff at ShawMUN 2014 and a Grade 11 student at Shawnigan Lake School. He is excited to see devoted delegates debate world issues, and meet other passionate students. He has attended Model UN conferences throughout North America in Victoria, Vancouver, and San Francisco, such as VMUN, RHSMUN, CAIMUN, BCMUN, and the Commonwealth Conference. He is also very interested in debate, having won several awards and attending the Vancouver Island Regionals. When not studying Cecil is a keen ice hockey player and golfer. One again, he is very eager to see ShawMUN create memorable experiences and build on lifelong skills. .
